Krystal Amber

An enigma by all accounts, Krystal Amber has made a name for themselves as someone who defies all the rules. A passionate advocate for accessibility and inclusivity, Krystal creates work that reflects their complex lived experiences while encouraging audiences to rethink their place in the world. Originally from regional Western Australia, Krystal found there love of movement young. Channelling their boundless energy into dance classes and gymnastics. Their love for performing and rolling on the ground led them to Circus and in 2021 they made the move to Melbourne to train at the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) where they Specialised in Contortion, Group Acrobatics and Hand Balancing. Their work combines incredible skill, unconventional movement, and thought-provoking, yet sometimes ridiculous, concepts into acts that are unexpected and joyful. Krystal’s recent highlights include performing with Flip Tease and Frenzy Theatre Co. as well as on cabaret stages in End of the Line and Carnival of Characters. They continue to develop their skills as an artist and athlete through REAP, ROOKES mentoring program for emerging artists. Krystal made their directing debut with ‘A Paper Trail’ which they created and performed in at the recent Adelaide and Melbourne Fringe Festivals. As a neurodivergent, non-binary artist, Krystal is deeply committed to storytelling and forging meaningful connections with their audiences. They love to watch audiences gasp and squirm, and if you ask nicely they might even share a coveted whale fact. Their dedication to pushing the boundaries of circus and uplifting others ensures they remain a dynamic force in the industry.
